Snaplogic iPaaS now even better – ask Synergy Software Systems

April 29th, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

We’re excited to announce the ‘February 2021’ release of the SnapLogic Intelligent Integration Platform. In this release, there are a number of new Snap Packs: for Marketo and Hubspot. for Marketing Automation, for Microsoft Teams and Power BI for team communication and analytics rly, and OpenAPI to connect to any OpenAPI compliant endpoints.

There is also support for Azure Synapse analytics to our ELT capability. Platform enhancements include :

  • higher productivity through expanded Universal search,
  • platform notifications to Slack,
  • better reliability through Snaplex level scheduling, and more.

Hassle-free connectivity with NEW Snap Packs

New Snap Packs provide out-of-the-box connectivity to key enterprise endpoints.  For example the new Marketo and Hubspot Snap Packs allow you to connect seamlessly to these marketing automation systems. Easily manage marketing assets/campaigns or leads that enter your marketing funnel. While HubSpot Snap Pack supports CRUD (create, read, update, delete) operations, the Marketo Snap Pack allows you to do bulk operations on leads.

With these Snap Packs, quickly sync your assets and leads data across Marketing, Sales, and other functional areas and easily connect to event/survey applications such as Eventbrite, SurveyMonkey, or to Demand Generation tools such as Google Ads, Linkedin, and Analytics endpoints such as Microsoft Power BI and Tableau.

The  Microsoft Power BI Snap Pack is also new and allows you to connect your Power BI instance to hundreds of data sources to bring your data to life with live dashboards and reports. Visualize your data and share insights across teams or embed these in your app or website. The Snap Pack helps you to post, push datasets, read, and edit so that you can easily query data, create/bind entities, import files, and update entities.

For an organization that has a heavy investment in the Microsoft ecosystem, the next Snap Pack the new Microsoft Teams Snap Pack allows you to easily integrate your Microsoft Teams into your enterprise workflows for customers, employees, and teams. This Snap Pack supports accounts such as OAuth2 User, Application, and Dynamic accounts to adhere to your enterprise security standards. Use it to send messages, perform channel operations, and perform team operations. .

Another key new Snap Pack with this release is the OpenAPI Snap Pack. Most API endpoints today adhere to the OpenAPI specification version 2 or 3. Leverage this Snap Pack to connect to any API endpoint with the published OpenAPI specification so that users can get all the needed documentation while they build their automated workflows. More efficiently connect to any generic endpoint without the need for specific Snaps.

Improved connectivity with other Snap Pack enhancements

Google Sheets Snap Pack now supports JSON based version 4 of the API rather than XML based version 3

Kafka Snap Pack updates now support reading/writing record headers and timestamps, provide option to choose one output document per batch. The later feature allows systems that don’t natively support streaming data to effectively work with Kafka messages by batching them together.

Amazon Redshift and Amazon SQS Snap Packs provide cross-account IAM support that allows organizations to trust and allocate roles with specific access privileges to specific groups or users.

Pushdown to any cloud data warehouse including Azure Synapse

Over previous releases, Snaplogic has introduced ELT support for Snowflake, Redshift cloud data warehouses so that you can do both ETL and ELT on a single platform. The ELT support is extended to Azure Synapse with this release. With ELT for Azure Synapse, you can accelerate data loading into Azure Synapse to provide ultimate flexibility to transform data by use of all computing resources across SnapLogic and Azure Synpase, thus reducing TCO and enabling a faster time-to-value.

With the SnapLogic platform yextract data from SaaS applications and databases with a vast number of Snaps. Once the data is in the staging area in Azure Cloud Storage, visually define data transformations, no need to write SQL. These visual transformations are converted into SQL statements and pushed to Azure Synapse for execution.

New features added to SnapLogic ELT make it easy to discover schema and SQL functions in the target cloud data warehouse. The platform provides suggestions for column names during LOAD, INSERT SELECT or MERGE INTO operations. The platform also provides SQL function suggestions when working with your target cloud data warehouse. To deal with large number of SQL functions various cloud data warehouses support, are grouped into different categories to simplify discovery.

Better Ease of Use and improved resiliency with the Platform Updates

The SnapLogic Intelligent Integration platform continues to evolve to make it easy for integration developers, whether they are technical or non-technical, to build and monitor integrations.

Universal Search, as the name suggests helps you search everything related to SnapLogic, all from a single search box. With the February release, it now performs pipeline searches in addition to the searches in Community, Configured Snaps and Documentation. This is not just a simple text based search. The Iris AI integration assistant provides more relevant search results across generic content (in community and documentation) and specific content from your org (such as pipelines or configured Snaps that you have access to). T

Figure 1: Universal search now supports pipeline searches

To efficiently monitor your integrations use the platform notifications to Slack. Users then get notified via Slack for any notifications from SnapLogic platform such as Daily API Usage, Snaplex Congestion, CPU usage, user activity, in addition to email notifications. Send notifications either on Slack Channels or directly to users.

Figure 2: Configuring Notifications to Slack

Enable Snaplex levels scheduling for all the scheduled tasks. This update reduces the time difference between the scheduled time of task execution and the actual time of task execution. With this update, your scheduled tasks won’t be affected by network disruption of the control plane helping your reliably deliver data that advances business processes and delivers insights.

10 X Faster Reports on SQL! Run Time from 30 Mins to 3 Mins! Ask Synergy Software Systems

April 27th, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

The performance degradation of applications running on Windows, and VMs is getting inherently worse. This includes latency issues, queries or reports timing out, crashes, missed SLAs, back office batch jobs bleeding over into production hours, and the litany of “shadow IT” problems that wreak havoc.

Even after migrating to a brand-new flash array, performance problems return because the root source of the problem still exists. The fact is, 30-40% of performance is being robbed by small, fractured, random I/O being generated due to operating system I/O inefficiencies. This is a software problem that is solved by our software.

DymaxIO™ fast data software will quickly:

  • Increase performance automatically – no tuning required. Simply install and watch performance problems disappear.
  • Optimizes writes so maximum payload is carried with every I/O operation.
  • Speed up I/O intensive applications like MS-SQL/Oracle, CRM, ERP, File Servers, Imaging, Web Servers, Backups, VDI.

Install our software on your most troublesome servers and see 30-50% or more of the noisy, garbage I/O offloaded and performance dramatically improved.

Microsoft’s April 2021 Patch Tuesday

April 17th, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

Update Tuesday is a monthly cycle when Microsoft releases patches for vulnerabilities . As a best practice, Micorosft encourage customers you to turn on automatic updates.

Security hygiene and patch management are as important as ever as to protect from both sophisticated and common cybercriminal activity. Customers should ensure they are on the latest version of software with current security updates. . It is common for attackers to shift their efforts to exploit recently disclosed vulnerabilities before the latest updates or patches are installed, which is why it is so important that customers migrate to the latest supported software.

This month’s release includes a number of critical vulnerabilities to prioritize, including updates to protect against new vulnerabilities in on-premise Exchange Servers. Given the recent focus on Exchange vulnerabilities, we recommend customers install the updates as soon as possible to ensure they remain protected. Customers using Exchange Online are already protected and do not need to take any action.

More details on all of this month’s updates can be found in the Security Update Guide.. More information on best practice can be found in the following resources:

UiPath recognised again as RPA leader – ask UIpath Gold Partner Synergy Software Systems,

April 14th, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

Hyperautomation was trend number one on Gartner’s list of  Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2020Recognised as the RPA leader for the last 2 years by Gartner .The idea is to automate more and more knowledge work, and engage everyone in an organization to be part of the transformation.  This is the driver behind the 5th Industrial revolution when knowledge workers will leverage RPA and AI.

UiPath has also recently been recognised again in the Forrester Wave™: Robotic Process Automation, Q1 2021 which was released last month. UiPath was again ranked a Leader, with the highest rankings in the Strategy, Market Presence, and Current Offering categories, of all evaluated robotic process automation (RPA) vendors.

The ability of automation to help humans remove the mundane parts of their jobs has led to significant growth in the past few years. UiPath has a vision to deliver the fully automated enterprise™, one where companies think ‘automation first’ and apply automation where it makes the most sense and can have the greatest impact.

We believe that automation as a boardroom priority shouldn’t be new or surprising anymore. Now the race is on towards a greater vision for automation’s role across the entire enterprise: scaling and scope extension.

UiPath offers an end-to-end platform for automation, combining the leading RPA solution with a full suite of capabilities that enable every organization to rapidly scale digital business operations. We’re incredibly proud of our recognition from Forrester, and we believe it validates automation’s role in the world.

RPA customers, and their employees alike, want more out of vendors than simple desktop-based task enablement. The world has changed and so have the needs of customers. The report states, with more people working from home, “RPA software must be scalable and therefore suitable and appealing to business users to get damaged processes back into operations rapidly.”

According to this Forrester Wave report, RPA customers should focus on providers that:

  • Deliver broad and rich experiences for business leaders
  • Integrate RPA-adjacent automation technologies
  • Empower a superior scaling experience

When you look at these three areas together, it’s easy to see the technological side of automation’s role in the changing future of work: expanding integrated tools, enabling more complex use cases, providing more robust user experience and insight. It is also important to realize that digital transformation is not just about technology. Success in automation is really all about people. By putting people at the center of your scaling strategy and enabling every employee with a robot, you assure the resiliency and productivity of your business and shift operations toward higher efficiency.
When software robots can reason over data and use artificial intelligence (AI) to make decisions, it is possible to unlock new possibilities that transform entire industries. We see the symbiotic growth of AI and RPA technologies inside businesses because, together, these automate large areas of routine work when tasks are fast, known, and repeatable.

AI is built into every part of the UiPath Platform. the Process Mining features, collaborative discovery, assessment tools, and graphical visualizations provide all you need to analyze and track automation ROI and its realization.

Ramadan 2021 – change to working hours

April 12th, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

The start date of the holy month depends on the sighting of the Moon because the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle. The Moon-sighting committee – a group of astronomers, court officials and advisers from the country’s Islamic authority – typically convenes after maghrib, or sunset, prayers on the 29th day of Sha’ban to look for the new crescent moon. The holy month of Ramadan will start when determined by the UAE Moon-sighting committee which is  to meet on Monday. So the first day is expected to be Tuesday  If they see it, then Ramadan begins the following day. If not, Sha’ban will last 30 days and Ramadan will begin thereafter.

Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic – or Hijri – calendar. It is also believed to be the month the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammed. Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset every day of the month, which is typically either 29 and 30 days. As well as abstaining from food and drink, Ramadan is also a time when Muslims strengthen their faith through prayer and increased recitation of the Quran.

Piety increases during the final 10 days, when Laylat Al Qadr is believed to fall. That night is believed to be when the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammed. It is traditionally celebrated on the 27th night of Ramadan but its exact date is unknown. The rewards for acts of worship carried out on this night are said to be more than the rewards of 1,000 months of worship.

Ministries and other federal institutions will be open from 9am to 2pm during Ramadan.

Synergy Software Systems and Deyafa Systems offices will be open for support calls from 9-4 Sun-Thu during Ramadan. Outside those hours there will be minimal staffing.

Some general Ramadan Do’s and Don’ts

DO… make the most of the community spirit. Say ‘Ramadan Kareem’ to friends and colleagues, introduce yourself to those neighbours you’ve always meant to say hi to, organise an after-work iftar, and catch up with friends and family.

DO… understand that many locals become night owls. Everything happens later during Ramadan. Malls are open past midnight and suhoors go into the early hours. Similarly email responses may take longer as will processing visas, or just about any other government business transaction

Demos are not likely to overrun at end of day

DO… your bit for a good cause. Ramadan is a good time to put your money where your mouth is. The UAE has a wide range of charitable and volunteering organisations.

DON’T… forget the ‘rules. If you’re not a Muslim, then they still apply – you’re still expected to be respectful. It’s frowned upon to dress inappropriately, eat, drink or smoke during daylight, play loud music or swear in public. At the very least these things are frowned upon and will cause discomfort to others, and at worst you may find yourself in trouble with the police or fined.

DON’T… lose your patience. Working hours are likely to be shorter (and perhaps a little less productive), those who are fasting tend to be tired, and the UAE’s roads will be more hectic at times. Remember that Muslims may be fasting for more than 14 hours a day.

Do Exercise caution: large crowds gathering to break their fast can be targets for extremists,. Always be aware of your surroundings especially when travelling . outside of the UAE. Also be aware that common thieves and professional beggars also target charitable alms givers during Ramadan and Eid

A set of mandatory guidelines for worshippers attending prayers across mosques in Dubai during the holy month of Ramadan, have been announced. The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) said that Isha and Taraweeh prayers can be performed in mosques, as long as worshippers observe precautionary guidelines, including wearing of face masks and maintaining physical distancing.

Dr. Hamad Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, director general of IACAD, said: “Crowding in the mosques or its precincts is strictly prohibited. The duration of prayers remains the same as previously announced. However, Isha and Taraweeh prayers are capped at 30 minutes (including Azan and Iqama). Mosques will be closed immediately after Taraweeh prayers are completed.”Al Shaibani further said that the guidelines for worshippers during Ramadan are part of measures directed by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. All mosques in Dubai will be frequently sterilised throughout the day during Ramadan to ensure safety and prevention, he added.

The maximum duration of both prayers in mosques has been capped at 30 minutes. Worshippers praying in mosques must bring their own prayer mats, and must strictly avoid handshakes and any other physical greetings that breaches physical distancing protocols. They must also maintain a safe distance from other worshippers as guided by floor stickers.

Lectures and seminars in mosques remain suspended. However, worshippers have the option to virtually attend lectures. Worshippers are also advised to read the Quran through smart devices inside the mosques. The department will evaluate the situation before making a decision on Qiyam-ul-layl (late night prayers) performed during the last ten days of Ramadan. The Supreme Committee will be updating its guidelines in this regard, official news agency WAM reported. Organising Ramdan, Iftar and donation tents and Iftar tables is strictly prohibited. Donations should be channeled through accredited charity organisations in Dubai.

Meanwhile, general guidelines for praying in mosques include: –

  • The mosque will remain open from the time of azan until the end of obligatory prayer.
  • Maximum duration of Isha and Taraweeh prayers in mosques is capped at 30 minutes.
  • Isha prayers will be held five minutes after the azan.
  • The mosque’s doors will be kept open from the beginning of the azan until the end of congregational obligatory prayer.
  • Performing a second congregational prayer or praying alone after the completion of main prayers is not permitted; worshippers must avoid crowding.
  • All mosques will close immediately after the prayers.
  • The distribution of food or any other items such as face masks at the entrance of the mosque is strictly prohibited.
  • Individuals with chronic illnesses or compromised immunity are advised not to pray in mosques and avoid crowds.
  • Intensive inspections will be conducted to ensure strict adherence to precautionary guidelines during Ramadan; violators will face penalties.

The UAE reported 1,883 Covid-19 cases on April 7, raising the nationwide toll to 476,019.

Eid Al Fitr is the annual three-day celebration after the last day of the Islamic month of Ramadan to Shawwal 3. It’s been predicted that Eid al Fitr could fall on May 13

End of life for versions 7.2, 7.3, 8.1 of Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations (on-premises) – call Synergy Software Systems

April 9th, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

This is for all organisations who are running an out-of-date version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations (on-premises) or that are maintaining respective environment slots and projects with an out-of-date version in Dynamics 365 Lifecycle Services (LCS). The lifecycle policy for this product contains the product versions which are no longer supported by Microsoft.

In the near future, Microsoft will retire those application and platform versions that have expired according to its lifecycle policy and will remove those from LCS. This will impact your organization because you will no longer be able to deploy or service the affected on-premises environments. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to the latest release of Finance + Operations as soon as possible.

Outgoing versions of Finance + Operations require Azure Service Fabric version 6.x, which is already out of support. There is no guarantee that your Finance + Operations system will continue to function if you upgrade the Service Fabric version on the hosting system.

The following expired application releases will be removed by May 31, 2021: “July 2017” (7.2), 7.3, and 8.1.

We would like to help you get your environments up to date. If you would like to engage with us on the best way to move forward to help you get your environments up to date, please reach out!

Options:. We can help you to upgrade to the latest version of Finance + Operations (on-premises), or to transition to the online version of Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, or even to take advantage of the new hybrid topology for Supply Chain Management, which offers distributed workload execution in the cloud and on the edge.

For version 8.1, upgrading to the latest release is straightforward because that version includes the upgrade capability provided under the One Version initiative.

If your on-premises system is release 8.1 or earlier we strongly recommend that you act as soon as possible. :

  • Versions 7.2, 7.3, and 8.1 are long past their support lifetimes, so Microsoft is no longer obligated to support these. Be aware that Microsoft will not be able to produce hotfixes for 7.3 builds after May 2021. They are already unable to produce hotfixes for versions 7.2 and 8.1.
  • Platform updates after PU41 may not work with version 7.3 and before.

If an environment is no longer in use, please then delete the environment slot, or project from LCS to stop receiving expiration notices.

Let’s work together to bring you to a modern version of Dynamics 365!

Critical Windows fix

February 14th, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

A critical flaw was discovered in Windows 10 that could allow hackers to unleash a devastating attack on PCs and render the devices useless. Customers who have automatic updates enabled are automatically protected from these vulnerabilities.

Last week Microsoft released a set of fixes affecting Windows TCP/IP implementation that include two Critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerabilities (CVE-2021-24074, CVE-2021-24094) and an Important Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability (CVE-2021-24086). The two RCE vulnerabilities are complex which make it difficult to create functional exploits, so they are not likely in the short term. We believe attackers will be able to create DoS exploits much more quickly and expect all three issues might be exploited with a DoS attack shortly after release. Thus, we recommend customers move quickly to apply Windows security updates this month.

The DoS exploits for these CVEs would allow a remote attacker to cause a stop error. Customers might receive a blue screen on any Windows system that is directly exposed to the internet with minimal network traffic.

It is essential that customers apply Windows updates to address these vulnerabilities as soon as possible. If applying the update quickly is not practical, workarounds are detailed in the CVEs that do not require restarting a server. These three vulnerabilities are unique and require separate workarounds depending on the exposure of an affected system; however, they can be thought of in terms of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) solutions.

The IPv4 workaround simply requires further hardening against the use of Source Routing, which is disallowed in Windows default state. This workaround is documented in CVE-2021-24074 and can be applied through Group Policy or by running a NETSH command that does not require a reboot. The IPv6 workarounds are documented in CVE-2021-24094 and CVE-2021-24086, and require blocking IPv6 fragments, which may negatively impact services with dependencies on IPv6.

It is important that affected systems are patched as quickly as possible because of the elevated risk associated with these vulnerabilities, and downloads for these can be found in the Microsoft Security Update Guide.

Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE 11

February 3rd, 2021 by Stephen Jones No comments »

Last August Microsoft announced that Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) by August 2021

Since November 30, 2020, the Microsoft Teams web app no longer supports IE 11.
To access Microsoft Teams, use the desktop app or a supported modern browser like the new Microsoft Edge.

Beginning August 17, 2021, the remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE 11.
This means that after the above dates, customers will either be unable to connect to Microsoft 365 apps and services on IE 11 or have a degraded experience – new Microsoft 365 features will not be available or certain features may cease to work when accessing the app or service via IE 11.
This change will be difficult for some users,

Customers have been using IE 11 since 2013 when the online environment was much less sophisticated than the landscape today. Since then, open web standards and newer browsers—like the new Microsoft Edge—have enabled better, more innovative online experiences.

Respecting investments in IE 11 web apps
IE 11 isn’t going away1and customers’ own legacy IE 11 apps and investments will continue to work. Customers may have made business-critical investments in IE 11 legacy apps and those apps are still functioning. While bridging between modern and legacy apps, many customers may have no choice but to rely on a two-browser workaround of using IE 11 alongside a modern browser. However, with the new Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer mode, customers don’t need an awkward workaround of one browser for some app,s and another for other apps. They can standardize on one browser and seamlessly experience the best of the modern web in one tab while accessing a business-critical legacy IE 11 app in another tab – all housed within the new Microsoft Edge.

With native integration in Microsoft management, security, and productivity tools, we recommend the new Microsoft Edge to address customers’ compatibility and secure remote work needs. Microsoft Edge has SmartScreen built-in and has the highest-rated phishing and malware protection as measured by two independent studies. We will Microsoft engineers are ready to help customers in case they run into compatibility issues. For more information, see the ‘Help is available’ section below.

Note: Using Internet Explorer mode in the new Microsoft Edge will not help to extend IE 11 access to Microsoft 365 apps and services beyond the dates listed above. Microsoft 365 apps and services will stop supporting IE 11 on the dates listed.

Microsoft Edge Legacy makes way for the new Microsoft Edge
The new Microsoft Edge is a browser built on the Chromium open source engine with the latest in Microsoft enterprise capabilities. Since its release in January 2020, millions of users have upgraded their home and work browsers to the new Microsoft Edge. Additionally, new devices and future Windows feature updates (starting with Windows 10, version 20H2) will contain the new Microsoft Edge.
