Earth Hour – switch off!

Earth Hour is an annual international event, created by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) that calls on individuals and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour. This year, Earth Hour will take place around the world on Saturday March 27, 2010

The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) issued a strong call to citizens, companies and public institutions throughout the emirate to switch their lights off as part of Earth Hour this year.

The Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) will be participating in the World Earth Hour, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change. Etisalat also announced it will join other leading UAE companies in Earth Hour . Etisalat’s iconic buildings and facilities in all seven emirates will be darkened through the evening as special care is taken to ensure all non-essential lighting and electronics are turned off. Etisalat is also inviting its 10,000 staff in the UAE to become eco-ambassadors on the evening and participate in the various events taking place across the country
