GITEX 2014 BRSAnalytics – see us at the Synergy stand

September 30th, 2014

Following the successful launch of BRSANALYTICS at GITEX 2013 Comoutime and its regional Middle East partners Synergy Software Systems will be exhibiting from Stand D7-10 at Gitex Technology Week in Dubai 12th – 16th October.

The annual GITEX technology conference brings together the biggest technology brands and cutting-edge conference programmes This year 3,700 exhibitors will converge from all corners of the globe .
The overwhelming response witnessed during our last visit at GITEX has inspired us to return this year with an application geared to deliver bigger and better functionality,” says Enterprise Group Channel and Business Development Executive Daniel Buttigieg. “We believe we have achieved this with the second generation BRSANALYTICS technology.”

BRSANALYTICS v2, a regulatory reporting solution for banks, is packed with features for a robust, user-friendly experience. The new browser-based interface provides intuitive navigation and system configurations, business rules, process management, and other reference data are accessed directly from the application by authorised functional users.

Daniel, also mentioned “The built in system ETL process and audit trails and workflow approvals provide robust data management and simplified submission of returns in the Central Banks formats. BRSAnalytics also features built in dashboards to assist management with analysis and monitoring of performance trends and KPIs and provides an ad hoc query for compliance officers to drilldown to rapidly find answers to both Central Bank and management queries. .”

This software is particularly suited to address the requirements of Middle Eastern financial institutions,” adds Head of Sales and Marketing Neil Bianco. “For instance, because Islamic banks obtain deposits mostly through profit-sharing investment accounts (PSIAs) – typically considered to be more volatile than conventional deposits. Basel III requires that all banks offset that volatility by increasing their high-quality liquid assets (HQLAs).
Banks must implement strategies for stress testing complex data to demonstrate compliance with the relevant Central Bank’ Basel III directives.

Out-of-the-box BRSANALYTICS reporting packs directly cater for regulatory standards by systematically gathering, cleansing, analysing and reporting to board members and the regulator in the required formats.”

Having visited the UAE numerous times over the past few years, we look forward to meeting again with our valued business partner, colleagues and customers.”

To see show case presentations and product demos, visit Stand D7-10 to meet with Daniel and Neil and the Synergy Software Systems team. We invite you to discuss in more detail how BRSANALYTICS can rapidly and cost effectively help your financial institution to meet the tide of newly emerging regulatory requirements.

Stephen Jones, Director Synergy Software Systems commented “We focus on proven branded international solutions, to ensure an ongoing product road map, built on familiar Microsoft technologies. This ensures rapid deployment, low risk and better value for our clients. This is one reason that Microsoft presented us with the Highest Customer Satisfaction award 2014. “

Windows update error with Dynamcs CRM Adaper Configuration Utility

September 27th, 2014

The Windows updates associated with KB 2977766 & KB 2977765 can cause the following issue when running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Adapter Configuration Utility to configure a Microsoft Dynamics CRM organization.

Upon launching the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Configuration Utility from within Connector for Microsoft Dynamics you may receive an error message like the following: “Unhandled app domain exception caught”.

Installing the refreshed version of Connector for Microsoft Dynamics V3 CU 3 (3.3.823.1) will resolve this issue.

Please note:If you have previously worked around this issue by copying the Microsoft.Dynamics.Xrm.Sdk.dll from the Adapters\Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Adapter\ folder to the root folder of the Connector for Microsoft Dynamics installation then you will need to remove that .dll from the root folder before upgrading to this or any subsequent release of Connector for Microsoft Dynamics.

EASA says O.K. to mobile devices on flights

September 27th, 2014

Personal electronic devices including mobile phones can be left turned on — and not just in ‘flight mode’ — during all phases of a flight, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has ruled. The agency said it is satisfied that personal electronic devices do not pose a safety risk when used on aircraft.

It is now up to airlines to conduct their own safety tests, to the satisfaction of EASA, before implementing the change, although each airline may decide to put in place its own policy.
The announcement means passengers could soon be able to make/take phone calls when inside an aircraft.

Of course, it will not be possible to get a reception while flying high in the air.
At the moment, passengers can use handheld devices during taxiing, take-off and landing, as long as ‘flight mode’ is switched on.

Malta’s 50th anniversary of Independence celebrated in Dubai.

September 26th, 2014

Malta Day celebrations were held in Dubai last week to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Malta’s independence.

His Excellency Minister Abdulla Ghobash, the Minister of State of Dubai, was the guest of honor at the Malta Day reception.

Economy Minister Dr. Chris Cardona is heading a delegation in the Middle East and attended a reception and celebrations held last night at the One and Only Royal Mirage and addressed the guests.

Mr Anthony Tabone, the Consul General in Dubai, was also present during the event along with other members of the Malta delegation and he gave the opening address and welcome to the many visitors.

Dr. Cardona expressed his great pleasure in celebrating this important anniversary in Dubai. Dr Cardona emphasised the great strides forward Malta has made since achieving its independence and stated that this is mainly a result of hard work and the optimistic vision of Malta’s future.

“Today, while enjoying the results of all that has been achieved to date, we look forward with renewed drive and vigor to a period of continued growth and an ongoing search for excellence in all that we do” said Minister Cardona.

Minister Cardona said he was impressed in his March visit by the good working relationship he experienced at all levels, both with the private as well as the public sector and that the current visit is an opportunity for the delegation members to keep building upon the links initiated during previous visits.

“The opportunities inherent in the relationship between our countries have been admirably laid out by Mr Tabone and I have little to add other than to confirm that Malta fully intends to keep working on strengthening our bilateral relationship for the benefit of both our countries throughout 2014 and beyond” concluded Minister Cardona.

Computime one of Malta’s oldest and most respected was acknowledged for its support of the event and the IT sector was one of those mentioned as being particularly important for collaboration between Malta and the U.A.E.

Synergy Software Systems are regional partners for BRSAnalytics and attended the event on behalf of Computime.

Windows 9 ‘Threshold’

September 23rd, 2014

Windows 9, currently codenamed ‘Threshold’ at Microsoft’s headquarters, could be making its début in April 2015.

Windows 9 will try to be completely different to Windows 8 and 8.1, both of which were greeted with mild hatred from its user base

So expect the return of the beloved start menu- lack of a start menu was one of the most disagreeable non-features of Windows 8, and it has long been rumoured that it will make a comeback

The 2015 release date, as is a short release cycles for another new operating systems IT professionals will have to support multiple versions of Windows, as well as a number of different platforms and devices.

This means IT staff will have to stop managing devices and platforms at an OS level and start look at ways to manage users, data and applications no matter what the device.

Windows 9 will be the first major release under VP Terry Myerson, who led the Windows Phone group in his previous position at Microsoft. Updates for the Xbox One and Windows Phone will also be released under the new operating system.

Not much is known of Windows 9 at the moment, but if it rights the wrongs of the current flagship OS, the Windows 8 could end up becoming the next Windows Vista; an expensive lesson.

Dynamics Ax lifecycle – Ax 2009 and Ax 2012

September 23rd, 2014

Dynamics AX 2012 mainstream support was recently extended by two years to October 2018.

Please be aware that Dynamics AX 2009 will go into Extended Support in April 2015. This means support is only provided if an extended support agreement is in place and deliverables are limited to security updates and non-security hotfixes (specific bug fix for a critical issue).

Therefore, the goal of the Servicing strategy should be to keep all products within their mainstream support.

Servicing Windows: Review all windows security patches bi-weekly and push update accordingly. Service pack and major update need to be tested before applying to production.

These patches shouldn’t impact AOS however it is recommended to first run sanity check on User Acceptance Test (UAT) environment. Any major update (.Net Framework and Windows SP) may impact system so put in place a control windows update using Windows Server Update Service for all servers in Production.

Servicing SQL Server: Our recommendation is always to keep the build up to date in regards to the latest CU available of the latest Service Pack officially supported.

For example, as of August 2014, SP2 was strong>not yet officially supported with AX 2012.

Lifecycle of SQL Server 2008 is now in extended support since July 2014

Windows Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2010 mainstream support will end in January 2015.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 coming soon – ask Synergy Software Systems, Dubai

September 23rd, 2014

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq “MSFT”) on Tuesday announced that Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015, as well as updates to its Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online and Microsoft Dynamics Marketing services, will be generally available in the fourth quarter of 2014.

The new updates revolutionize the way sellers and marketers unite and collaborate by bringing outside-in insights to sales and marketing professionals so they can understand the impact of their campaigns to customers, giving them more personalized experiences. Salespeople now have the visibility to impact campaigns and targeting with unprecedented insight into marketing calendars and campaigns. The updates also enable marketers to more effectively plan and execute marketing campaigns and better track their impact, while strengthening synergies with the sales process. Microsoft Dynamics CRM continues to deepen its interoperability with Microsoft’s leading productivity applications, including Microsoft Office 365, Yammer, Lync, Skype, SharePoint and Power BI for Office 365.

According to Ray Wang, principal analyst, founder and chairman at Constellation Research Inc., “Closing the gap between marketing and sales is required for a successful customer experience. Organizations need tools to track the customer interactions from marketing to sales and back, collaborate on leads and opportunities, and measure the metrics that matter to both sales and marketing.”
Unlike vendors that want to separate businesses by selling them countless different clouds and solutions, we have designed Microsoft Dynamics CRM to facilitate the kind of collaboration that businesses need to thrive and grow,” said Bob Stutz, corporate vice president, Microsoft Dynamics CRM. “This means that marketers and sellers can work more closely together to engage customers, bridging the chasm between marketing, sales and service to truly deliver end-to-end experiences that customers will love.”

Uniting marketing and sales
To break down the silos between sales and marketing, Microsoft Dynamics Marketing introduces the new Sales Collaboration Panel, which allows sellers to provide input into campaigns and targeting. The release also gives marketers the ability to streamline campaign creation and improve segmentation with graphical email editing, A/B testing, integrated offers and approval workflows. The new Email editor provides marketers with the ability to select from pre-defined templates or create an Email from scratch using an interactive drag and drop build process or an advanced editor for the CSS & HTML experts

Marketers can more effectively collaborate with the click-to-call feature in Lync and easily schedule and execute webinars as part of their marketing initiatives. The new Interactive Marketing Calendar allows marketers to visualize and manage their end-to-end marketing plans. Microsoft Dynamics Marketing will also be available in Japanese and Russian.

In addition to providing salespeople with the ability to more effectively collaborate with marketing, the new release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM provides the ability to recommend products to up-sell and cross-sell across product families, improving their selling effectiveness. The new release enhances the Guided Sales Processes to help steer sellers toward desired outcomes and ensure the enforcement of business rules across all devices. This release further improves the business process flows introduced in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 by introducing the branching capability to allow organizations to implement complex business processes. The branch selection is done automatically, in real-time based upon rules defined during
the process definition. For example, in selling products or services, you can configure a single business process flow, which after a common qualification stage splits into two branches – one specific to products and the other for services. New mobile sales capabilities across mobile platforms increase productivity with flexible RoleTailored dashboards and analytics, as well as personalized home pages.

Product Families
Boost selling effectiveness with the ability to bundle products and recommend related products for cross-sell/up-sell and simplify and minimize product management with product attributes. Improvements to the product selling experience help sales operations managers and salespeople manage and sell their company’s products more effectively. Sales operations managers can easily configure product offerings that bundle related products together and provide tailored pricelists giving sellers the ability to position the best products at the best price. Salespeople can see suggestions for cross-selling and up-selling, and get recommendations for accessories or substitutes right on the opportunity form while they are working their deal.

Product properties (attributes) such as updatable, read-only, required and hidden allow sales operations managers to determine how they can be used by the sales agent at run time, that is, while adding an associated product to an opportunity, quote, order, or invoice. \
Continuing to enhance capabilities to Microsoft Social Listening, the company added Italian as a sixth native language for sentiment tracking and analysis and expanded listening capabilities to include news sources. These capabilities give people access to real-time insights so they can see what is happening and make the right decisions to take advantage of opportunities the moment they arise.

New hierarchical visualizations and roll-ups bring real-time territory and forecasting data to your fingertips. Visually explore and traverse hierarchies with key information displayed on tiles, launch actions or communications from any node, and query filter records using the under operator.
With this release, users can see how info is related or grouped by viewing accounts, products, or users in hierarchical charts. You can click a block of info to get more details and navigate to the info you’re interested in. Hierarchical views are also available on mobile
For example, from the hierarchical view for accounts, you can:
• See how an account is doing in overall revenue
• Drill into tiles for sub-accounts to see where the deals are coming from
• Find out who is working an account and enlist help from others by sending email or sharing the account with other salespeople
• View important details about each account, such as credit limit and latest activity posts for the account

Expanding into new markets, Microsoft announced that Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online is available for purchase in 17 new markets in Latin America, making the service globally available in more than 65 markets worldwide. The company confirmed that the global expansion of Microsoft CRM Online will continue and is expected to reach over 130 markets and in 44 languages by the end of calendar year 2014. In calendar year 2015, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online would expand into additional Microsoft regional datacenters.

More capabilities and features of the new Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 and Microsoft Dynamics Marketing, such as productivity improvements, automated business processes and real-time forecasting data, are detailed in the Release Preview Guide. Ask us for a copy 0097143365589
